The Syria Peace Project (SPP) is an applied initiative that builds upon interdisciplinary collaborations on peace and health at Johns Hopkins University, and beyond. With activities recognized by the Johns Hopkins Discovery Award in 2022 and the Nexus Award in 2024, the SPP is dedicated to applying this knowledge on mitigating the multifaceted conflicts that have fragmented Syrian society.
To establish robust, evidence-based peace projects that address conflicts in Syria at all levels—from local communities to international relations—fostering a resilient and inclusive society.
The SPP aims to achieve this vision by leveraging interdisciplinary expertise from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), the School of Medicine, the Bloomberg School of Public Health, and active Syrian organizations on the ground, through the following approaches:
